Leon Dolice (1892-1960) spent the last forty years of his life recording the landmarks, streets and people of New York City in etchings, pastels, linocuts and paintings. This web site is an historical tour of the changes that took place in New York's architecture during this period -- from the 1920's through the 1950's. Here you'll see many images of the artist's work that show these changes.

As you go through the pages, you can view higher resolution images of each picture by clicking on the titles highlighted in the text. This feature is also available on our image viewer, where you'll find a complete list of all the artwork arranged by catalog number. On the image viewer page, original etchings available through secondary print market sources are also indicated.

A free traveling exhibition containing many of the original Dolice etchings of New York City, the replica prints, and many other engravings and photographs of New York in the late 19th and early centuries can be referenced on our Vintage New York page.
